In our years of building and remodeling bathrooms we have found that quality professional upgrading or remodeling of a bathroom almost always proves to be a very wise investment. A bathroom is an area that all of us need and use. Most all bathrooms in use to day need upgrading from time to time.
Upgrading can be as simple as simple fixture to fixture replacement all the way up to a total renovation of the entire area. Projects of this nature normally take a while to complete due to the many steps needed to successfully complete. But a quality remodeled bathroom like this will last a great number of years with little additional work and be very enjoyable to use.

We always enjoy doing custom
tile showers. It gives
both the owner and us the ability to create a truly
one of a kind project due to the fact there are so
many possible combinations of products, types and
colors of products we can use to complete the project.
Sometimes it starts with a photo from a magazine,
other times it just starts with just a thought or a
dream. At that time we start making further
improvements and adaptations to make it
truly our own personal project. No two
projects are ever alike but they are
always exceptional.

prefer the standard shower
curtain that can easily be washed or replaced
at a nominal fee.
Company's that advertise about there 1 day quick service
due to these time restraints could possibly tend to cover up problems that normally need to be properly addressed and
solved in a better way by a professional full service bathroom
designer/remodel contractor with years of plumbing expertise.
Your home is a large investment and the bathroom is a very important part of this investment. It might not be wise to trust this investment to the cheapest unlicensed handyman/contractor in the area to perform this very important work.
You basically get
what you pay for both in time and money spent.

Simple replacement of
bathroom fixtures with no rough in location changes.
A far better way is to completely remove all the old fixtures, strip the
wall down to the bare studs & remove the floor down to the sub floor sheathing.
Once
this is done it is wise to totally check all the old supply, drainage
& vent piping for their condition and
quality of installation. Drain lines some time don't have the proper slope and
some times can actually have a sag in the center thus trapping sediment causing a
slow operating drainage system. Drainage vent and wet vent lines are extremely
important for the proper trouble free operation of the plumbing system. It is always
wise to check these for proper installation and operation. A properly install drain system should be almost
self cleansing & self maintaining.

The owner of this home asked us to remove their old tub
and install a new tub with tile work in that area. They
had purchased the home about 6 month previous and
told us that there was always a bad musty smell in the tub
area. Upon further investigation we found that somebody had
installed a prefab tub enclosure around the existing ceramic tile
work. The problem was that this original tile work had
been installed on 1/2 gypsum drywall. (this type of
product is not made for this type of application)
This board had rotted & mildewed and should have
been removed and replaced with a more suitable
product. Quit often these problems are not seen
unless the area is opened completely up to be
thoroughly investigated. We don't
believe that is wise to take the one day
approach on such a serious project as
bathroom remodeling. Covering up only
forestalls more serious problems
at a later date. This type of work
should never be approached
as a cosmetic fix.
The
home owner had told me that the drain
was always slow and it
had to be cleaned
out about every 12
months. This
piece of
1 1/2 PVC drain tube was installed with to
little pitch and it also had improper support
thus creating a sag in its center thus creating
a serious problem. (it did not drain properly)
We found out what the problem was. It was 1/3
full of sludge. (at the time of removal) This
sludge would keep building up until the drain
would quit functioning. This would have
happened again in about 3 to 4 months if
we had not taken care of this problem.
All framing members should be examined for any rot, mildew or other damage. Also it is wise to make sure that no framing members are broken or have been cut and not reinforced.
While the area is open any location changes or additions can easily be made or added.
By having the project done in this way we can be sure the the rest of the job will become a lot easier and have a positive outcome.
At this point all the major decisions will have been made.
I
am always glad to go with my client to help pick out the different items needed
to successfully complete a project of this type. Manufactures websites are also rather

It is always our preference
to custom build a custom build
traditional mud based shower receptor (floor) with a
code approved membrane. Over this base we then
install a tile of the customers choice. On occasion we
do use a factory pre built shower receptor if
the budget is rather tight. The above photo
shows one of these units and it works very well.
Some of our clients actually prefers this look
over a traditional tile receptor look.
It is always the clients choice to
make the final decision.

We sometimes use a in stock
shower unit combination.
This consists of a shower receptor, shower wall system
& appropriate shower door unit to complete the reasonably
priced answer to getting clean on a limited budget. This
type of product comes in a variety of sizes. A word of
caution that one must be very careful to pick a high
quality unit from reputable manufacturer due to the
fact that there are many of these units out there of
extremely poor quality & function.
